Umbria Newsletter - March: Farming High APY, Airdrop, Polygon Matic AMA, CoinMarketCap

A lot has been happening at Umbria Network over the last month so we thought it was a good time to initiate a community newsletter. Here’s a roundup of some of the key launches, announcements, activities, behind-the-scenes developments and community news for March.

First Umbria Airdrop

 

At the very start of the month we took the first snapshot of UMBR and UMBR-ETH LP holders, and on April 2nd they all got to claim their free UMBR tokens, which were airdropped directly into their wallets 🎉. It’s been great rewarding early UMBR adopters — by the way you must claim this airdrop before April 9th 12PM CET — and we’re looking forward to doing it again on May 15th. AMA — Innovation in DeFi with Polygon & Umbria

The guys at Polygon (previously Matic Network) are hugely supportive of their partners and are always on-hand to support our marketing and development efforts. We held an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with Arun Philips, Growth and Hamzah Khan, Head of Marketing at Polygon on Clubhouse.

The main topics discussed were:

· The evolution of cryptocurrencies and innovation in the DeFi space

· Decentralisation vs centralisation

· Challenges of Layer 2 protocols

· User accessibility in DeFi

A great March milestone for Umbria Network — and a signal of mainstream adoption — was the listing of the UMBR token on CoinMarketCap (as well as a host of other sites). Make sure you add UMBR to your CoinMarketCap watchlist and don’t forget to share 😀

Down on the Umbria Farm

The Umbria Farm was deployed on the mainnet on March 19th and just over a week later the farming rewards began 🚜 👩🏽‍🌾 👨‍🌾 Right now, approximately 1 UMBR token is minted per minute and a share of this is distributed to anyone who’s staked their UniSwap ETH-UMBR LP tokens in the Farm. APY was at 1187% when we announced so there are a lot of happy farmers. Check out the latest details and APY here and find out how you can start harvesting UMBR here.

Umbria Airdrop Bounty Program

We released a new list of ways to earn the Umbria governance token UMBR with the launch of our airdrop-specific bounty program. Anyone can get involved, just choose from a number of different tasks to help promote the Umbria airdrop and you’ll be rewarded in UMBR for your efforts. A total of 10,000 UMBR tokens are available to earn through the airdrop bounty program. Full details and a list of social media activities and bounty available for each can be viewed here. 

Liquidity Rising

On March 29th another landmark for Umbria… the UMBR-ETH liquidity pool on UniSwap hit $1 MILLION!

Community Corner

A shoutout to Crypto Adviser who was one of a number of YouTubers who earned 200 UMBR in March for their content.

Blogger Lifemademe earned 50 UMBR for his blog post on Life Made Me, which gave a great explainer on how to claim from the Umbria Airdrop. A special thanks to Zentrani over on our Discord channel for the great new logo design, which is taking pride of place on the Umbria Farm page.

 

Development HQ

First successful ‘Add Liquidity’ test for Umbria Network on the Polygon Testnet

Right at the start of the month we completed the first successful ‘Add Liquidity’ test for Umbria Network on the Polygon Testnet (Mumbai Testnet). This transaction would’ve cost about $150 on Uniswap/Ethereum, but was less than $0.01 on Umbria because of the power of Polygon.

The Umbria Masterchefs

We’ve built extensive governance functionality in the Umbria DeFi platform. Extending on the innovations of SushiSwap’s masterchef.sol contract, we’ve implemented technology to be able to dynamically change the amount of Umbria minted per block, which enables a smooth emissions curve of the Umbria token. This will eventually be controlled by Umbria token holders when full governance functionality is implemented.

Online Blockchain plc

Online Blockchain plc, which acts as Umbria’s advisor, co-ordinator and administrator announced its half year report and of course we got a special mention:

In addition to our previously reported projects that continue to make progress, we believe that the Umbria decentralised finance (“DeFi”) development is our most promising project. DeFi itself is a disruptive segment of blockchain and there is the potential for OBC and Umbria to make an impact.
